In respect to countries that have legal gay marriage, would any acknowledge mixed national marriages?
For instance if I as a US resident wanted to marry a citizen of France, would any of the countries recognize our union?

Yes, depending on the country's marriage laws. If a Canadian citizen marries a South African citizen (for example), their marriage is recognised as such in both countries. If, however, a Canadian citizen marries a person from the US in Canada, the marriage is only recognised as such in Canada... it will be recognised as whatever the state law prescribes when they live in the US.

If a country recognizes same-sex marriage, it should accept one from another country. Canada does, the US does not. Which can make for a lot of hassles at border crossings for married Canadians.
I think all countries that have diplomatic relations with other countries should recognize marriages as legal.

As long as you live in the country which performed your marriage, yes. The problems arise if you move to a place which does not recognise it.
