Why aren't my twins sleeping all night?

My twins are boys and they are 20 months old. They have never sleep the hole night. I don't understand why. They aren't on cup anymore. They havent been for 5 weeks now. Let me tell you a little about what is going on with them. So we just move from ca to maine. We get up at 5/6am everything I cook them something to eat. Then we go outside for a little bet. We came in to the house and they eat again. Then they take a nap is only 30min. (don't know why?) There nap is at 11/12. Then they play all day and eat snak and I cook every night. Then I try to put them down at 8pm. One twin goes to bed just fine and one wont go to sleep unless i am right there and he has to see me every min. I really don't understand becouse I am doing the same things i did with my older two kids. Anything that can help let me know if i should try something new. thank you!!

That's normal. My kids didn't sleep through the night until they were two.

Make sure they don't have sugar after dinner. Slow the pace down an hour before bedtime, with story time, or singing lullabies. Then put them to bed and stay until they are both asleep. If you hear them during the night, wait about five minutes to see if they go back to sleep. Consider having a night light. Consider moving them out of cribs. (I put the mattress on the floor and put a baby gate in the door. The room was like a giant crib. You may have to consider having them sleep in separate rooms because they might wake each other up. You might also see if a nightlight will help.

They are not getting enough sleep for this age. Poor napping and a late bedtime can combine to make for overtired kids, and sleep problems can slowly get more and more out of hand. Normally babies will need at least 11 hours at night at this age (possibly 12), and also a 1-2 hour nap. If you put them down to bed earlier that may help. When they get overtired they actually have a harder time falling asleep and staying that way. Move the bedtime earlier in increments so that they are getting more night sleep, and hopefully this will help the nap as well.
