When a tongue ring starts too heal what happens?
I've noticed my holes getting smaller, and also soreness. Is this normal?

This is exactly what you stated - it's your tongue trying to heal. As it heals you'll continue to be sore & notice some shrinking - be careful of broken teeth & infection(s) (some signs of infection include swelling, redness, & pus or mucus, among other things) now that you've got a tongue ring these are very highly possible/likely to happen.
