Does anyone have experience being on Trileptal for Bipolar II with hypomania?

Any tips, suggestions, things to watch out for would be appreciated. I just started Trileptal yesterday and amgraduslly increasing the dose. I'm also taking Zoloft. Thank you for your help.

I'm not aware of Trileptal particularly. I have something like bipolar; my mom was diagnosed as having Hypomania. Issues may seem quite complex, and some people may treat you as though you are handicapped or that you need help. I've had that attitude from people, and yes, I've needed help and got help. People have issues and life can be complex and good help can benefit. Sometimes people have gotten so serious and involved with me, when the best help came from people that helped me to "lighten up". Often people with bipolar or hypomania come from families that are achievers, and those other family members that are achievers are perceived as normal and role models. Those same family members have many of the same traits as the family member that has bipolar. That's maybe a start. Where you're at and your goals... I suppose though some is similar, some is unique for you personally. Thank you for asking. Please take care.

Hi, Bob. I hope this finds you well. Thank you for your concern. I'm doing really well, and have been for the past year or so. It too about two years of trial and error with medications to find the combination that works for me but, when that finally happened, I've been able to get on with my life. I work a full time job in social services, have a caring and understanding husband, and a puppy (well, he's 6 years old but I still call him a puppy) who is the absolute love of my life. I'm still on therapy, but now every 3 weeks as opposed to once a week. I still struggle with breakthrough depression, but I press on and make it through to the other side. My life is far from perfect, but it is 100 times better than it was for the 20+ years before my diagnosis. Take care.

While I have heard off Zoloft and I am led to think it is well regarded I must say I have never heard off Trileptal at all... sorry about that.

I must do a yahoo check on that soon...

Hello Alice, thank you for answering my question so promptly. I have experienced what it can be like for those who have bipolar first hand. So I understand a little of what it can be like, I see your questions are a few years old now and I was just wondering how you are managing at this present time?

Seriously? You consider an answer from random strangers on the internet a good idea? Wait until Monday and schedule yourself an appointment with your therapist for a true second opinion.

I would be careful. i was misdiagnosed with bi polar disorder and tried several anti psychotics. anti psychotics can be dangerous with an anti depressant. just be careful, if i were you i'd try to think of what really causes me to have mood swings.

is it flashbacks, nightmares? if so you may have ptsd

if its just random out of nowhere, then you may be bi polar.

    good luck
