Please tell me more about this herb. What brand are you using where can I get it? etc.

I recently started taking Rhodiola rosea which like Moringa oleifera is an adaptogen.

Still searching for a solution to my wife's blood pressure issues.

Anyway, my blood pressure has been as low as 90/60.

If your blood pressure is usually less than 90/60 then you have hypotension or too low blood pressure, but if it is only occasionally that low then I would not worry about it. Try taking it at different times of the day. An isolated reading here or there means little just as an isolated reading of high blood pressure means little. The lowest reading for me in the past month was 96/69 and my highest reading was 128/86

It is also my understanding that for some people, taking this supplement will raise their blood pressure. the same is true for Rhodiola rosea. How much or how little you take can be critical to your results and the dosage that works for one person will not work for everyone.

In the UK, blood pressures are usually categorised into three groups: low (90/60 or lower), high (140/90 or higher), and normal (values above 90/60 and below 130/80).

Drink 2 glasses of water in the early morning before breakfast to prevent hypovolemia. In physiology and medicine, hypovolemia (also hypovolaemia) is a state of decreased blood volume; more specifically, decrease in volume of blood plasma.

Mean arterial pressure (MAP) is considered to be the perfusion pressure seen by organs in the body.

It is believed that a MAP that is greater than 60 mmHg is enough to sustain the organs of the average person. MAP is normally between 70 to 110 mmHg

If the MAP falls significantly below this number for an appreciable time, the end organ will not get enough blood flow, and will become ischemic (deficient blood supply).

    Your mean arterial pressure is 67.67 which is below normal.[89+(2 x 57)] / 3

    Possible Complications:--

    * Shock

    * Injury from falls due to fainting

Falls are particularly dangerous for older adults. Fall-related injuries, such as a broken hip, can dramatically impact a person's quality of life.

Severe hypotension starves your body of oxygen, which can damage the heart, brain, and other organs. This type of hypotension can be life threatening if not immediately treated.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

You're getting there, if not there already. Usually when your pressure starts to get too low you'll feel lightheaded or dizzy, especially when you stand up. I have to tell you though, sometimes medications, and maybe herb mixes, can set off a nasty chain reaction when your immune system takes exception to them. Your blood pressure will start to drop over a period of days, and next thing you know you've passed out and wake up in the hospital. I think you need to stop the herbs and see if your pressure comes back up. If it doesn't, you need to see your doctor.

If your blood pressure is very low, it can cause problems. You can even faint, or have a heart attack.

Have you considered that the herbs you're taking could very well be causing your pressure to drop to such low levels?

Why don't you contact your doctor, just to be on the safe side...talk to the nurse on call in the office, and she what suggestions she might offer. I know I would stop the herbs right away and wait to see what my body does.

    Take care of yourself.

I dont know a holistic alternative. You might go to a health food or vitamin store and ask them. You can check Dr. Andrew Weil's website. He is the famous proponent of natural remedies at the University of Arizona in Tucson. I take Lisinopril also in 10 mcg. and my BP is steady. It may be caused by some other medication you are taking. Get another doctor's prognosis. Look up the different BP meds and see their side effects before you visit this doc again.

Try taking it on another arm or with a different machine, always make sure u are in a quiet setting when u use an electric Bp cuff. If I get a weird low or high reading I usually wait 15 minutes and try again and it's fine.

Bp that's too low (hypotension) is usually below 90/60.

Getting to the bottom safe level now- this is a resting test, not after a brisk walk? And your age? I figure a 110/70 is good for 60 year old with Amlodipine and Metroporol, lisinipril and doc is happier with it- better than the 190/130 from couple years back before meds .

That is very low blood pressure. Even 120/70 is low when you are older so you need to find out what is going on. My blood pressure is high so I should ask you about those herbs. Talk to you soon. :)
