Migrating installed games to new Steam app?

Hi folks,

I downloaded Skyrim via torrent a while ago to test it out and bought it today along with other games.

Now I installed the Steam app onto my game HD and of course, it wants to download the game which I already have.

Can I move my game folder to a subfolder of the Steam application folder so it only checks and downloads altered or updated files and ignores the unchanged rest?

I have a lot of mods, but those are seperately installed via Mod Downloader. (In theory, the Steam Workshop also has mods, but I'd rather manage mine with MoDo.)

No discussion about your opinion about piracy, please. I know exactly that and why I test before I buy anything, excepting groceries :D

Steam has a sale and finally us Europeans could buy the game for an American price, we usually pay 60% more....W00t!

Well if you move a non-steam downloaded game anywhere within any of the Steam Folders steam will freak out on you. I did the same with bioshock and it got mad and messed up a lot of my games. I would just uninstall and reinstall via Steam.
