Lagging Laptop PLEASE HELP!?

i have a delll laptop and all of a sudden its lagging so much. like if i am typing something it wont appear as i go it just appears after a moment. Also cant click on anything have to wait a moment after i do for it to happen. kinda like it freezes for a moment?! super frustrating. like even trying to scroll down a page is brutal to wait for. sometimes a bar pops up and says shockwave plugin crashed or something at the top , could it be that causing all this?

Anything i can do !!? i hope this makes sense! ( if it matters its windows 7)

THANKS!

    Close all open windows.

    Ctrl+Alt+Del to open Task Manager

    Processes Tab

Open to fullscreen and watch to see what process has a lot of activity.

Search the name of the process online to see what it is.

If it's malware of some kind, update and run your virus scanner.

If it is a program, try uninstalling it.

    Windows Maintenance

    Tune-Up and Clean-Up

    First Ccleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

    Then Malwarebytes http://malwarebytes.org/

(Or just update and run your current Virus Scanner)

    Run Error Checking

Right click on C: in (My) Computer

    Check box for Error Checking

    Reboot

    Run Disk Cleanup

Right click on C: in (My) Computer

    Properties

    Disk Cleanup button

After it Calculates how much space you can recover,

Click on the More Options Tab then

System Restore Cleanup Button (this can recover a lot of space)

    Windows 7

    Clean up System Files Button

    More Options

Clean up under System Restore and Shadow Copies

    <><><><><>

    Control Panel

    Add/Remove Programs

Look at Programs you no longer use and uninstall them. ie Trialware and programs you installed but don't use anymore.

(Don’t if not sure - windows will say you have not used it in a while but it may be an important program)

What model is it? What's the ram? If the ram is below 1G, it may be because of ram, but you said its lagging all of a sudden. Did you install a new application or have too many open? It may be because of that, and if that happens, go to task manager and delete some of the processes.

    Hope I helped.
