how can i convert my external HD to FAT32 without losing any data?

trying to play some HD movies on my ps3 with an external 1TB HD. I know i need to format the HD into FAT32 file system. however, I am not completely versed in computer know-how. How can i convert my external HD into FAT32 without losing data? I have movies files which are over 6GB which i know exceed the maximum file partition for FAT32. how can i get around this?

Update:

I've tried using my computer as a media server, However, when i connect to that, it says there are no titles and i get the message: "Access to the media server is not allowerd. It is possible that the system name for this PS3 system, "PS3-344", has not been registered. Check the settings for the media server."

I'd avoid that situation all together. If you want to play movies on your ps3 just play it over you network using your computer as a media server. Use something live serviio which is free and just connect to it from the ps3. That's what I use on mine and it works perfect. no need to change the file system on the HD

to format your external hdd to fat32 and not lose your files, you will have to copy all to another pc or hard drive - then you will have to find a program to split your 6gb files into two parts

you should now no longer attempt this. the really software for this alteration right into a upward push from fat32 to ntfs both from residing homestead homestead windows and loose on the innovations superhighway even as residing homestead homestead windows ninety 8 replace into making the turn to nt and then 2k and finally xp. you should in no way backwards format to fat32 w/o documents loss... the really thanks to do it really is to repeat all documents to a particular stress and then format and then bypass the innovations again. more effective modern-day transformations of partition magic artwork on 7, yet this very personal't sove your challenge...
