Recurring knee pain????

I've been having knee pain in the insides of both of my knees since February, and every now and then on the bottom of my right knee cap. My doctor has been saying its growing pains but this hasn't subsided yet. I wanna go to the army and it doesn't bother me when I run. My doctor has said it's growing pain is this true and has anyone else had the same symptoms?
