Hello, Yahoo community. There is something that I need to know. Is homosexuality determined by childhood abuse or neglect? Thanks for your help.

No. It's innate - meaning "inborn." That means you're born with an orientation, even though in most people it doesn't manifest until puberty.

There have been tons of theories on 'cause' and they've pretty well been disproved in the last few decades. Just about every species on earth has some gay members, but only humans have homophobia.

I was lucky to have been born into a very loving and caring family. There was no abuse or neglect of us by our parents or anyone else. My parents also treated all of us equally. I am one of 5 and am the only gay child.

Of course not. Most homosexuals grow up in perfectly normal household situations, no abuse or neglect.

Well, I'm no expert, but I'd have to say no.

From my knowledge, if you're an actual homosexual, you were like that from birth. It's not really determined by anything but your genes.

    It's determined by nature.

Some people end up gay, some don't.

Source(s): 21 year old gay male who was raised in a stable middle class home. No childhood abuse, no neglect.

The 1950's are calling, they want their outdated, debunked theories back.

    Essentially, no.

    Nope. It's genetic.
