Septum Piercing? :) Info please?
I really like piercings and I'm thinking of getting my septum pierced. I only have a helix, tragus and my lobes pierced but my parents have been super strict about piercing but I really want my septum done soon. So, my pain tolerance is fairly high, my tragus barely hurt and my helix was nothing at all. I want to know:
How bad did your septum piercing hurt (1-10, 10 being bad)
How long did it take to heal?
What was the swelling like if any?
How was it in general after a couple days?
Thanks
Thank you for responding everyone, I think I should just get it I mean, it's only a piercing and can be removed if I don't like it. The only problem is my parents will blame me if it hurts or if I have a problem with it. But I think I'll do it.
:)

About an 8. The pain afterward is definatly a 10. It brought tears to mine & my sisters eyes whenever we touched them for like the first week. You have to keep it clean! That's an absolute must! Septum piercings are can easily get infected, considering that itms on the inside of your nose. If your planning on hiding it from your parents, you can easily flip it up in your nose. This is what I had to do for the first week. After about two weeks, it should be about fully healed, but it will still hurt when you touch the tip of your nose. There should be no swelling & no bleeding if you take care of it properly. After a couple of days, it may seem infected, but it's not. It's totally normal to get crusties on your ring, just mae sure you clean hem off when you get them. I still do sometimes, and i've had mine pierced for a month now. But they sting really bad for the first week or so!

It would probably hurt if the piercer when through the cartilage since it's way thicker/firmer than the sweet spot. As long as you go to an experienced and competent piercer this won't happen. Septum piercings are known for being easy healers, but take about three months [give or take] to heal. Not, sure...but if you keep it flipped up for the majority or all of the initial healing period it will heal straighter than if you didn't. You piercer can also answer these inquiries too.

A septum, if done properly, is actually one of the less painful piercings. As long as its pierced in front of the cartilage. I'd say it was only a 2 on the pain scale. It actually heals quickly too as long as you do sea salt rinses. And its great because if you have an important event you just flip it up into your nose (if you wear a horseshoe cbr)! The only negative thing about it is that it smells sometimes if you don't clean it often enough, you know since it's IN your nose haha. I miss mine every day, do it!

septum is nothing at all
trust me
plus, do you think you'll really care about the pain that will only last a couple seconds when you have a cool piercing to show off?
just when you get it done, ask the piercer to put a horseshoe that is wide enough to flip up and have them flip it up into your nose right away
one of the EASIEST piercings to hide
then, when you are around your friends and wanna show it off, flip it down!
