What mental condition is this?
He overracts dramatically, is extremely impatient & goes into rages over the littlest things, during the rages he sometimes imagines something that hasn't happened (physical fights & other scenarios) and is completely convinced it's happened, he can't keep a job due to the anger & extreme lack of focus, his perceptions are skewed -- like some paranoia & extreme pessimism (a fatalistic mood at times), he obsesses on specific subjects & will not talk about anything else, he's agitated often & figity, and he itches & scratches & picks at his skin. Any idea what's going on here? I'd like to help this friend and get him to see a doctor, as I think he needs some serious help. He doesn't have health insurance, though. It's hard to watch him suffer. :-(
Robbie, you big dufus! LOL I know that is definitely NOT the case. If anything, maybe a little too big. Now go sit back down with the rest of the class & color with your crayons. ;-)
My daughter & his brother are both bipolar. He is different. He actually believes things have happened that have not, especially when he goes into these rages. He believes them to the point of thinking the police are after him & going to arrest him after one of these imagined incidents (like beating up someone). THAT is what scares me. He really honestly believes his imagined scenarios. Isn't that a symptom of schizophrenia? I was thinking of searching for trials for medications for him, but I don't know what his condition is for sure. Yes, taking him to a psychiatrist would be ideal, but did anyone read where I wrote that he doesn't have health insurance?
I fought for my daughter to be in the same school classification you are -- section 5 or something like that. She fought me all the way on it because it's under the special education umbrella. I'm very familiar with it. I'm so glad it's helping you, as it did not help her. :-(
He definitely does NOT enjoy it, Lynn. He is 45, not a kid who enjoys a juvenile level of drama & attention. We've talked about it often, and he says that someone (not a professional) said that he has PTSD from losing his father when he was a teen & from 2 major car accidents where he had to have multiple surgeries on his legs. Maybe untreated head trauma from the accidents?

There is diffidently something neurological going on here. Now there are a few things that do stand out to me and they are;
1. Itches, scratches and picks at the skin are known to found among users of methamphetamine.
2. Being that he is 45 the behavior could also be a mid life crises.
3. With the scenarios of “overacts dramatically, is extremely impatient and goes into rages over the littlest things, during the rages he sometimes imagines something that hasn't happened (physical fights and other scenarios) and is completely convinced it's happened, he can't keep a job due to the anger and extreme lack of focus, his perceptions are skewed, etc” it’s a reminder of schizophrenia.
4. However mood swings as well as violent acts is also known with being bipolar.
5. PTSD has relations with depression.
I would diffidently seek a professional on this topic, someone who does neural science “neurology, drug testing, blood work, and a psychiatric evaluations” to make a better determination of what’s going on.
My background; I’m the author of Dating Decoded with studies in neuro science, and human behavior based from quantum physics.
I hope some of this helps with your diligence.
