The changes will affect many users but if yahoo is to stay competitive in these difficult financial times then change is essential.

I don't believe so, I just tried it now and it works. Probably in some areas it failed to. I speedily noticed pop up pointing out on middle of Dec whatever like that, YM or chat is not going to work considering they'll be doing preservation. Though I didn't pay awareness so much to it.
