League restructuring in scottish football.?
I’m a little baffled. I’ve heard suggestions of a 16 10 16 league set up. Which just suggests to me that the 10 team division would be just as stagnant as present.
What would be so wrong with a two division of 21 teams each?
Interesting idea on the three lots of 16. Who would you include?
And with 30 league matches you could have a 'staggered' winter break too.

Even numbers do help
When we had 2 x 18 team divisions (lets forget the years when div 2 was 19) pre 1975 by mid March a couple of teams were so far behind and a couple so far ahead that too many games were meaningless and attendances dropped. Some thing had to be done, armageddon was approaching so the powers that be decided that reconnstruction was the answer.
Thus the premier, 1st 2nd and 3rd divisions were created.
This permitted more frequent fixtures between the top clubs; the expectation was that meant greater revenue for them, and it was hoped it would stimulate greater interest, at a time when attendance at league matches had dropped
All seems so familiar

See to be honest I am a rangers fan and want to go to the spl as soon as possible but I think a 16 10 16 league is totally crazy I mean there's not enough competition in Scotland to do this. There would also be a lot of meaningless games. Hopefully they open a European league for the old firm to go into Scottish football is coming to an end..
