I need opinion about GERMANS?
Hallo! I’ve had several bad experiences so I really need your opinion.
My elder brother is studying in Germany and I’d like to do the same after I finish my high school in 3 years. I’m going to start my German class early next year (hence my writing in English – I’m Korean, and 15 years old, btw.).
I visited my brother for a week, and unfortunately I’ve got into more than mess.
Firstly, once I travelled alone by bus in a neighbouring city. My brother lives in a city where you don’t have to validate your ticket in the bus, so he forgot to remind me. I bought my ticket and didn’t validate it – despite “Fahrkarte bitte entwerten” being written on it – because I don’t read German. As luck would have it, the controller asked me to turn the ticket, and penalized me 40€ for not validating it. I’ve tried to explain but to no avail.
Then in my brother’s dorm, I was in the elevator when a group of young Germans made jokes about slit eyes.
I won’t judge all Germans with these experiences, but I’m rather afraid now to study there. My brother said that he had two very good German friends, but sometimes it’s easier for him to say that he’s French (our mother is French). Sometimes when he is in a college party, people behave condescendingly toward him. Only after they learnt that he’s French and heard him speak the language, did they become much friendlier.
I want to make my own judgements, but how can I get to know Germans more when I’m still in Korea? I know two or three from the Goethe Institute and they’re really nice, but why in Germany I feel that people are less friendly? Honestly, do you German people generally dislike Asians? Thank you!

Die Jugendlichen heutzutage sind einfach Idioten. Nicht nur in DE aber überall.
I personally like Asians, because they are such hard-working people (those whom I know, at least). You're more than welcome in Germany. Don't worry, I know ppl like me who do like multiculturalism. Tell yourself that you're better than those idiotic ppl :)!

I got the impression that Asians are actually quite well-liked here in Germany. Afaik there's a positive stereotype floating around according to which Asians are hard-working and polite. Then again, I know a lot of Asians (lived in an international dorm for awhile, and my best friend is Vietnamese), so I'm probably not representative. One disturbing thing I noticed was that a Thai friend of mine sometimes got mistaken for a prostitute (like, random guys chatted her up when she was just waiting for the bus or something).
As for that thing with the ticket - conductors are just pretty strict and sometimes rude around here in general. Don't take it personal. It's got nothing to do with your race or appearance. I'm German, speak German and look German and I've had *plenty* of bad experiences with the service staff on trains and buses. Like that one time where a train conductor dressed me down in front of the whole carriage because I made a minor mistake when I entered the number of my customer card when I booked my ticket online (it actually made my ticket invalid and I had to buy a new one with a special extra fee right there on the train). My best bet is that the public transportation companies don't pay their staff all that well, so sometimes they end up with stupid / uneducated employees.

I know lots of germans, lots and lots, and theyre all really fine people,
you will find good and bad in any country though.
Im in France, and they are quite racist, but Ive never experienced that in germany.. maybe you were just unlucky.# unfortunately, they do have rules, and stick to them strictly, thats why you got the fine ,
what you could do though is write to the company who issues the fines, and explain your story, and, you might , only might be refunded, because afterall, you were innocent.
And how to get to know germans while in korea, difficult, unless you join some online exchange or something,
Seriously, the germans are fine, especially in the north , but hey, they are so tall !

I even have 3 labs and one white GSD. We have been given the GSD from the pound. before everything he enjoyed to run off and replaced into very hyper. as quickly as we had a splash time to coach him, he became out to be the main suitable behaved and maximum tolerant. whether, we expect of he has an id disaster. He replaced right into a greater mom to the puppies than the mum! He might have nursed them if he had milk. he's likewise prejudiced. He thinks cats are scum. The labs accompanied the kittens, yet whilst they arrive around he is going to the different portion of the room with a vocal disapproval. might in no way injury them, yet we could them understand he's no longer fond of their species. i individually believe pound canines are grateful in a manner canines raised from doggies ought to in no way be. Pound canines understand what the undesirable existence is approximately and understand how solid they have been given it now!

To be perfectly honest, I do think that the majority of German people dislike Asians. Just recently a German guy in my class made a joke about a girl in our class looking asian and when the girl said she wasn't Asian, he said 'they're all the same anyway' and all other Germans laughed. I don't think this should stop you from going to Germany, but when you do, be prepared for some insults.

some people/teenagers are just idiots who feel strong as long as they are in company with their friends. but if you meet them alone many of them are too shy/weak/whatever just to open their mouth and say "hello". don't worry about them, they are not worth your friendship, anyway. they are immature kids who still need a couple of years to grow up.
if you are a nice person you will surely find people who appreciate your personality and don't make fun of you just because you have a different look. try to ignore the uneducated rednecks, the world is full of them but they are not worth your worries. i know it's easier said than done but don't let them bother you.

Being Asian in Germany does not immediately equate to being hated. There will be some racist people who will hate you just because of your physical appearance and there will be those who will be willing to look beyond your eyes and distinguishable facial features. But this is nothing new, this happens everywhere and not just Germany.
