Why does Dwight Howard have 9 shot attempts?

Lakers are not going to win when Antwan Jamison has more shot attempts than Dwight. Not a Lakers fan but it looks like this is mainly a Kobe team. Kobe took 31 shots and 2 assist. That means he did not fully utilize the "best" center in the NBA. What do you think this team has to do to win. Are they really discombobulated without Steve Nash or is there another issue on the court right now?

Update:

do you think Bynum fit better on this team?

It's nobody's fault but he own. He needs to be more aggressive. I watched the game and almost every time he had the ball he just ended up passing it to a teammate. We aren't going to be the team we should be unless he gets more aggressive down low and get at least 20 points a night. 20 points shouldn't be that hard to obtain when your Howard, but, he's very inconsistent..

Because Howard gets hacked all the time. When he gets fouled, that doesn't count as a shot attempt. Howard went to the foul line 8 different times. If you count those, Howard had 17 shot attempts, far more than Jamison's 11.

People always make the mistake in assuming that it is somehow Kobe's fault that Dwight Howard is only getting 11 shot attempts per game. Kobe isn't taking away shots from Dwight Howard. Kobe is taking shots away from Chris Duhon, and Metta World Peace, because the Lakers don't have another guy who can score consistently on the perimeter. Dwight Howard doesn't take 20 shots per game because Dwight Howard doesn't get 20 decent looks per game. Howard can't score unless he is close to the basket, and the closer you are to the basket, the more defenders you have surrounding you. Only 2 centers in the league who average more than 13 shots per game.

Nash will fix a lot of problems. His passing and great shooting will spread out the floor, and it will give Dwight Howard more open looks. Right now, the Lakers don't have a PG who is giving Howard good passes when he is cutting to the basket. Nash will. Howard's shot attempts should rise when Nash comes back, but if you're expecting Howard to attempt 17-20 shots per game, that just isn't going to happen. It never happened in Orlando, and it definitely won't happen in LA with Kobe and Gasol.

Kobe drove to the basket hard many times but got no calls which resulted in 31 shots.

You do know he get doubled as soon as he touches the basketball

There is an obvious answer if u actually watch the games. Howard either makes the basket or gets sent to the FT line. He's averagin the most FT attempts. Teams are being smart and just fouling him when he gets into a good position so most of the time he cant even get an attempt.
