How do I get Ubuntu 12.10 to run Gnome?

I tried Unity for 6 mos. Just don't like it.

    To add GNOME 3's Shell open a terminal and enter "sudo apt-get install gnome-shell"; it will automatically pull in any other dependent packages. Once it's finished installing, simply log out and select "GNOME" as your user session.

    Since Ubuntu doesn't include all the packages associated with the latest GNOME release (most notably Nautilus and GNOME Control Center 3.6), you may also wish to add GNOME's PPA to your system to have the 'complete' experience: https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/gnome3
