Cory not swimming at bottom of tank?
I have a 45 gallon tank, I have 2 cory and they are supposed to be bottom swimmers. They are only at the bottom when I feed them and swim all over the tank and one stays at the top most of the time. I know others with cory catfish and theirs stay at the bottom. I just think it is funny they are hyper fish. Is there a reason that they wouldn't want to stay at the bottom? I have several large rocks that they can swim under and a few large areas for swimming where I don't have the larger rocks. Just curious if there is a reason that they wouldn't be at the bottom.

There are two reasons that could cause this.
1. Not all Corydoras species are bottom swimmers. For example, C. hastatus, C. pygmaeus, C. guapore, C. caudimaculatus, and others are mid to all-over the tank. Some of the tail spot corydoras species spend a lot of time on top of plant leaves near the surface.
2. You do not have enough of them to form a shoal. Seven or more identical corydoras will scoot about together on the tank bottom, preferring rounded sand particles as the substrate. Different cories stay separate and since they are naturally gregarious, when in a mixed group or fewer than five or six alike, they tend to behave abnormally. Perhaps they are up high so they can scout for their "missing" buddies.

I even have 5 Cory Catfish and that they swim all around. i don't be responsive to why they try this , yet they bounce to the right of my tank and swim back off to the backside. i presumed they only laid there, yet they do no longer they swim and circulate around like my different fish. they're truly lively.
