When registering a domain name, is the original still functional?

Such as, once I get a new domain name, will the old url or links break?

Registering a domain name and hosting a website with a url that can be typed in a browser are two separate functions. The only way your domain will still work is to purchase or renew it with the same registrar. Also this will only work if they don't change the name servers. Contact me at luminarye.com and I can help verify your domain and see if it is setup properly.
