Today marks exactly 8 years since Dimebag Darrell's death...?

RIP Dime. We miss you.

I always remember this quote of his: "The worst advice I ever received from my dad was to play by the book."

Dime exemplifies to me what is so beautiful in Metal, the unrestrained @ss grinding, ear shattering expressive playing that discards all the limitations placed on music. He plays whatever feels right to him and his fans, coming from the soul instead of playing by the lukewarm rules which fail so many other guitarists and people in life. Dime found beauty in every note, he didn't discard some music as "good" and other as "bad" he found enjoyment in whatever sounds he made, and that's the mark of a great guitar player and soul.

Alright I liked Pantera as much as the next one, but how did Dimebag display "heroics"? Can't just be throwing that word around. Also, Damageplan was horrible. Rebel Meets Rebel was a better venture.

Dimebag will alswys be one of my favourite guitar players, since he was one of the first ones that I enjoyed. His leads, tone and amazing riffs will always be some of my favourites in metal. Dimebag's solos also helped metal to survive throughout the 90's and without them metal would become extremely simple and without any solos. It's so sad that it was just one guy on one day, who killed the legend. Even though it's 8 years already, Dimebag's music will always stay alive.

Thats no longer basic, Marty's solos are harder to play (atleast for me), yet they're the two outstanding guitarist, yet i think of i like Dimes soloing kind extra, even regardless of the undeniable fact that Megadeth is my renowned band.
