OK, firstly, monkeys are not pets.

And secondly, they are dirty. Tree living animals often are impossible to litter train, because in the wild their poo just falls away when they go.

You can't diaper a monkey the vast majority of the time. They don't like it and will pull it off, and many of them get nappy rash...look what happens to babies...can you imagine a whole lifetime of forcing a nappy on a monkey that doesn't want it? They will pull the diapers off and smear the contents everywhere.

So, impossible to litter train and won't keep a diaper on most of the time. It gets better.

Monkeys pee on their own hands to make them sticky to help them climb, and to help them scent things...being their "owner" that would include YOU. They will also play with their own faecal matter. Although the myth of monkeys flinging poo is generally a myth, they WILL play with it.

In addition to this, monkeys are also known for their chronic masturbation habit...they will jerk off regularly.

Their poo STINKS worse than you can imagine.

And that's just the bathroom habits. Monkeys are dangerously aggressive once they hit adulthood. Capuchin monkeys, which are the size of a cat, have scalped people before. Monkeys can wield tools and have the knowledge to hit their owners where it hurts...they will go for your fingers, wrists, eyes, throat and genitals. They are habitually aggressive, it's how they communicate with other monkeys. It cannot be trained out of them, the vast majority of monkeys do bite. This is why so many monkey keepers have their monkeys teeth and claws removed and have them castrated, all of which is hideously cruel.

For further ideas on why they suck as pets, and should be left where they belong, have a look at this, a vets experience on monkey keeping: http://www.2ndchance.info/monkeysaspets.htm

There are certain exotics that make good pets. Monkeys are never going to be one of them.

If you want to meet monkeys, there are plenty of animal sanctuaries looking for helpers! Once you have been there a while and they trust you, you may well get to do amazing things like help raised orphaned monkeys. That is much more ethical than keeping one as a pet, and FAR more rewarding. Let monkeys be monkeys!

Monkeys do not make good pets. They naturally poo or wee wherever they happen to be (they don't use the same corner every time in other words!). Lots of monkeys, including capuchins and marmosets, scent-mark themselves and their territory with their own pee. the smellier they are, the happier they are. They're very destructive and will rip your home apart given the chance. Additionally, even small monkeys are really dangerous - they can and do hospitalise people on a regular basis. Proportionately, they do a whole lot more harm to the people around them than most any other sort of pet (but you don't hear about it as often because people keep them less often). Most importantly, perhaps, pet monkeys suffer horribly. they are ripped from their moms as infants so that they can be sold as pliable, safe, tame pets - but that only lasts a few years until they start to mature. But being taken from their familites like this causes severe psychological damage.

Well most likly you are kidding since you posted a picture of a gorilla. Just in case though most places do not allow primates with out permits, permitsa re difficult to obtain. No where will let you get a gorilla with out a cvlass one permit which is only given to zoos and animal facilities not the public. Monkeys are noisy, messy, and produce a stinky musk. They need experianced handlers and often become aggressive at peuberty. The gorilla you chose will easily kill you when it throughs a temper tantrum. You need a lot more education before you could even consider a monkey. Then you need permits and a few thousand dollars just buy it not to mention vet bills a few grand for an enclosure and as a child there is no way you can properly care for it

They are not so clean animals, as they spill food and make their surroundings dirty. A significant commitment of time is needed just for routine care and cleaning up after a pet monkey.

monkies would have to be the dirtiest pet you could get

    they smear food and poop

    they throw food and poop

they can NOT be housebroken, nor can they be expected to actually keep a diaper on

they masturbate when they reach sexual maturity

they are escape artists and will get into things

    they also bite and scratch

they can also carry nasty disease like TB, hepatitis, HIV, etc
