What do you think about legal recreational marijuana for 21 and up.?

Colorado voters said Yes 55% to 45 % and the Governor signed it into law today. It is now part of our constitution.

It is still against federal law and Colorado may lose federal money if this proceeds. Also, there will be court challenges, as I understand. I think it is a dreadful idea. It affects driving skill, will lead to more accidents, and higher ins. for all. Would you want to work with someone whose work skills are affected by a person who is stoned? I would not. I would also not want to be near people who wreak of marijuana. The incident at the university in Boulder is an example of the judgement of pot users and the damage they can cause. I have seen it in family members, they are unmotivated, lazy, don't want to work, care nothing for the rights of others. I am probably the most anit-drug of any kind person you can find. I see NO positive results from using pot. If folks think pot users will stick to small amounts of recreational use in private homes, they are deluded. And of course it will be much easier for younger kids to get it...just like alcohol. It makes me very sad to see Colorado go down this path.

Holland is the most popular place people think of when smoking weed and it being 'legal'. I've been there, and the only people who are stoned in the day are tourists. They accept it as a country, and are not all addicts as a result, and are a productive country.

I agree smoking and driving is bad, and here in the UK they can now test you for it and has a hefty prison sentence, the same as drink driving, and rightly so.

Overall I think it's better to make it legal, tax it, make it clean and tested not like most stuff that goes about which people have no idea whats in it, and sometimes very dangerous things. In the UK 1 in 3 people aged 16-30 smoke cannabis.

It would also put criminals out of a job, and put that money they would of got into the economy. There will be downfalls no doubt, but if Colorado doesn't stick with it you'll never know.

    all for it

we should have that in all 50 states

tax it and use it to raise money instead of wasting money to put people in jail and clog up the court system

Not a travel question. Try putting this over in "Society and Culture" or "Politics".
