It is an extremist sect of the Catholic religion that indulges in self inflicted pain!

Stay as far as possible away from it!.

Opus Dei is the creation of the Order of Jesus - the Jesuits - and is a lay order. They follow the teachings of the Catholic Church and belong to it, depend on it and take their orders from the Jesuit General, otherways called the 'Black Pope'.

No Christian should be linked with that kind of orders. Read the Jesuit's history and you will understand. They were expelled from - at least - 65 countries, a total of 77 times, involved materially in the assesination of Lincoln, and their involvement in the Inquisition, the persecution of Jews and what they considered 'heretics' is abhorrent.

Read please: 'The Secret History of the Jesuits', by Paris and "The Vatican Assassins" by F. Felp. (PDF, for free). Those are only two of the myriad of books you can get in the Internet today, when the light of the Truth shines over all of us.
