Why are unions so angry?

Why am I seeing all these union workers so angry that it is up to employees whether they want to join a union or not? As I understand the unions aren't being dissolved or banned from businesses, it is just being ensured that employees can choose whether or not they wish to be a part of it.

Do union leaders realize they look as if they are trying to restrict people's freedoms?

All those who have power are afraid to lose it. Michigan is about to become a right to work state, and the automotive unions can't handle it.

No and that's just what the Republicans want you to think.

There is no freedom in not having representation when you deal with a big business.

Think of it this way, you have no protection at all except to leave without a union, when the company wants to cut back or out on health insurance and days off, hours and pay. Your choice is to take it or leave, and we know leaving isn't a viable option as without unions all the businesses will offer the same poor conditions.

The company has all the power, all the lawyers, you have only what you can afford...nothing.

That's a freedom no one needs.

And yes, if a union can't represent all the workers, then it's ineffective at dealing with the company. The Taft Hartly act already allows for non union workers. The only reason to insist on right to work is to see to it that unions have no say.

Obviously you haven't done enough research on your own.Under the "right to work"laws, unions will be forced to represent every worker, regardless of their membership. Those that are not members will work under the same contract, receive the same benefits and representation as those that are dues paying members. If they want the same benefits and representation as their dues paying counterparts, then why are they unwilling to join and pay for services given?Or do the Republicans actually believe in entitlements?

    Wrong.

    This is union-busting.

Michigan Governor rammed the bill through without public debate - at all. In one day.

It’s not only catering to corporate greed, but Republicans want union power gone because worker’s unions are the only thing with enough power to TRY to compete with the corporate elite who funnel TONS of cash into Republican coffers.

Republicans are evil. That’s all there is to it.

Unions are the backbone of many company bankruptcies. Guess those members don't realize, when a company goes out of business, they lost their jobs. That is what the union is good for.

By removing union requirements from public workers, you effectively remove their ability t collectively bargain and give 100% of the power to employers. Union killing is fundamentally an anti-free-market solution to a non-existent problem.
