Will Blu-rays support The Hobbit's 48fps?

There isn't a theater within 800 miles that will be playing it at 48fps, but my TV supports 120Hz. Does Blu-ray support HFR? Is there any way I'll be able to see it properly at home?

"The Hobbit" is the primary film ever, to be offered in HFR. It's a company new technological know-how. There are not any Blu-Ray gamers currently on the market that can play HFR films in any respect. There aren't any televisions presently on the market that may play HFR movies at all. It is going to be years before this new science filters right down to the dwelling market.

48 frames per second is related to how the film is recorded. The resolution and frame rate of most Blu-ray is usually 24fps (i.e. 1080p/24 fps) -- since the 24fps is "native" for the original film, but it can be whatever rate (24, 48, 60...) the manufacturer decides to use. Expect there to be some catchy new term for it on Blu-ray and to be (probably) show up first on 3D movies.

See the link for more detail and clips comparing 24 fps and 48 fps versions of the same material.
