Why can't you talk on the phone when donating plasma?

My roommate donated plasma for the first time today. When I was asking him about the process, he said that he wasn't allowed to talk on the phone while he was donating. He could text, but he couldn't talk on the phone. Is there a reason for this?

Medically speaking, in CONSIDERATION of others around that are ALSO donating. IT IS supposed to be a QUIET TIME. If it was intended to have Rock and Roll, be assured the setting would change. It IS VERY MUCH A MEDICAL SETTING/ATMOSPHERE. Also, keep in mind NOT every person donating feels like jumping over the moon, laughing and cracking jokes. There are patie nts that feel nauseous, very nauseous, and wish to remain peaceful while donating. Hope this paints the medical setting for yourself and others.
