What legal reason does Comcast have for being the pathetically bloated monopoly that they are?

@ Hunch. Yeah, well in my city, they are basically the only cable company available.

    Comcast is a monopoly?

    Then what are all the other commercials that I have to watch -- Time Warner, AT&T, Verizon, Charter...
