Parking using the clutch?
84 k20 4x4 4 speed manual. Since I bought it, the emergency brake has never worked, I've just engadged it in second gear to park it. Is this ruining my transmission or clutch?

I agree with Steve park it with the tranny in reverse or 1st gear.
It would be best to get the emergency brake fixed. Sometime
you are going to park where leaving it gear alone isn't enough.

I drive an 04 Silverado with a 4.8 and a stick and I rarely use the parking brake, and NEVER in freezing temperatures. Wet brakes that are engaged can freeze up and you will have a big pain to break free. Reverse is recommended and cut the wheels to the curb if on an incline. Trucks with older engines and poor compression may jump an eighth of a revolution till the next cylinders compression holds. If the vehicle is loaded or the engine rings are really old, it may keep turning the engine and roll on a hill. I watched my brothers 78 Ford 1 ton roll into a tree, from poor compression. If you cant fix the brakes, carry a couple of bricks with you to wedge under the drive tires. Even if you forget about the bricks, driving away is no big deal..

This puts pressure on your clutch. It's not going to ruin your clutch or transmission even on an incline. If you are parked on a 90 grade or so incline, though, it will stress the clutch, and doing this daily can over time put wear on the clutch. Don't worry about it though.

No, it will not hurt either one but it can still roll though!!!!!! I have seen vehicles left in gear still roll without using the park brake so you may want to keep an eye on that!!!!

fix the hand break! but leave it in first or reverse so it wont roll away.
The hand break should work for general safety reasons what else is stuffed is my next thought.
