Need opinions on supplements?

Okay Im looking for opinions on some good joint and muscle supplements for my horses. Just looking for something basic. Dont need the high end stuff.

Update:

Im willing to pay what is neccisary but if i can avoid paying $100+ for the high end stuff like Cosequine (think thats what its called?) then thats what id like to do. Also no im not looking for a easy way to cheat building muscle, my mare isnt able to be worked due to a injurie and has some muscle problems with her hip and i think might benefit from something to idk help make her muscles stronger i guess is what i want.

Update 2:

What do you mean "muscle" supplements? Do your horses have difficult gaining and keeping muscle or are you just looking for a quick, easy way to build muscle? If the latter is the case, you can't beat exercise. A supplement won't get your horse to build muscle if they're not in work, so if you intend to put that horse on a muscle building supplement they also need to go into a good fitness routine, otherwise you're completely throwing your money away.

For joint supplements, here is a comparison chart from SmartPak so you can compare prices for something that fits your budget:

Glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, and HA are the most important components of a joint supplement.

For muscle development, you need amino acids, and vitamins and minerals to support them.

Going against the suggestion of different respected answerers right here and going to assert particular supplements (supplements are actually not drugs) will help, IF the horse is undesirable or challenged in this form of style that they are in pick of 'extra' of a definite factor. Horses pick B supplements to handle stress properly, so a B12 can help act as a chilled agent. same is going for Magnesium. severe high quality factor approximately those 2 are that the physique will secrete any extra if given orally, so there is not any hazard of injury. issues like herbs are diverse. some can try to can take transport of to overdose. i don't propose giving organic calming brokers because of the fact a lot of them are 'unlawful' and verify out. while you're working in direction of at homestead, or getting the horse used to trailering or another new stimuli, then i'd propose something with Valerian Root or L Tryptophan, yet lower back, purely specially situations.

If the horse is not a weedy thin frail horse she would not need supplement if she is getting good hay. Riding will develop muscle, lots of up hills and if you ride W. with a breast collar you could find a log or a railroad tie to pull.

  • I use SmartPak's SmartFlex I Maintanence. They have different levels and the first one is for young horses or horses in light work. I use it as a preventative for my 5 year old TB gelding.

Nothing is inexpensive, but from your description, you might look at Cortiflex. I like the pellets and the horses like it. Again, this is more basic.
