You don't have to go to God through anyone, you can speak to Him directly in prayer. Tell Him what is on your mind, like if you are talking to a friend. Being religious isn't a goal to try to achieve, but being a friend of God is. The Bible is the Word of God speaking to us, just as if He were sitting on a chair in the room and talking with you. Jesus taught us how to pray in Matthew 6:5-15.

Well, first you need to figure out what you believe. You said you believe in God and Jesus Christ. That means you could be a Christian or a Muslim or even a Mormon. Do you believe Jesus was God, a Prophet, or a spirit brother of Elohim?
Go from there.

"Do I have to be Christian to pray to God? I pray everyday at night in my mind when I'm laying down."
God's Word says:
“Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please him well,
for he that approaches God *must believe* that he is,
and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him.”—Hebrews 11:6.
“...*True* worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth,
for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him. . . .
and those worshiping him *must worship with spirit and truth*.”—John 4:23,24
These two verses show that a person must *both* have faith, and that their worship must be based on God's own truths, rather than false, man-made, religious teachings...even if such are presented as though being from the Bible, because God's son warned:
"Many will say to me:
'Lord, did we not prophesy, expel demons, & perform powerful works in your name?'
"Yet I will confess to them:
'I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness'."---Mt 7:22-23
"For FALSE Christs and FALSE prophets will arise and will give signs and wonders
to lead astray, if possible, the chosen ones. You, then, WATCH OUT . . ."---Mr 13:22,23
"Beloved ones, do *NOT* believe every inspired expression, but *TEST* the inspired expressions *to see whether they originate with God,* because many false prophets have gone forth into the world."---1 John 4:1
"Immediately by night the brothers sent both Paul and Silas out to Be·roe′a, and . . . they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, *CAREFULLY EXAMINING* the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so."---Acts 17:10,11
So, the thing to do, is to make a personal examination of what God's Word teaches, for yourself. Never rely on what others tell you that it says. Insist on reading what it says on any given subject, for yourself!
For a beginner such as yourself, I suggest using a study-aid, or guidebook for finding what it says about one subject at a time. The ones I suggest starting with are:
"What Does the Bible Really Teach?"
http://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/bible-teac...
"MAKE SURE of all things; hold fast to what is fine."---1 Thessalonians 5:21 (:
You are also welcome to attend Bible talks & studies with those who have studied the Bible for themselves:

We also offer a free Bible study program to those interested:

It should because it is full of violence and an angry god. God is a man made invention you do not have to be religious to be a good person.
The majority of real scholars know that Jesus never existed. There are many reasons for this. For one as in the fact there was no Nazareth until much later after the supposed birth of myth Jesus.
The following are some not so nice things the myth jesus is quoted as saying...
The burning of unbelievers was based on the words of the myth Jesus: "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (John 15:6)
Matthew 10:34. "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.
Luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Matthew 18:9
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
When one of his disciples requested time off for his father's funeral, Jesus rebuked him: "Let the dead bury their dead." (Matthew 8:22)
Jesus said that whoever calls a brother a "fool" shall be in danger of hell fire (Matthew 5:22), Yet he called people "fools" himself
(Matthew 23:17) - "You fools and blind men! Which is more important, the gold or the temple that sanctified the gold?"
This last statement is nonsense a building (Temple) cannot sanctify anything neither can gold. Only people can.
(Psalm 14:1) - "The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good"
There is no one who does good? The people who read the bible and become godless/atheist or agnostic or non religious because of what is in it and proclaiming it to be true which is quite disturbing to those who do not believe in all its negative and unrealistic so called mythological miracles that mimic many other mythologies as in Osiris, Mithras, Dionysus, Bacchus a God who turned water in to wine and many others ect…..
Bloody Mary (Queen of Scotts who had 30,000 protestants burned at the stake), the inquisitions that tortured and murdered thousands upon thousands in Europe and the Americas, The Malleus Maleficarum[2(meaning "Hammer of the Witches" in Latin which stated that witchcraft was to blame for bad weather. These remarks are included in Part 2, Chapter XV, which is entitled: "How they Raise and Stir up Hailstorms and Tempests, and Cause Lightning to Blast both Men and Beasts" for which thousands of mostly women and girls were burned alive which was sanctioned by Pope Innocent.
The most stringent controls on speech in the colonial period were controls that outlawed or otherwise censored speech that was considered blasphemous in a religious sense. A 1646 Massachusetts law, for example, punished persons who denied the immortality of the soul. In 1612, a Virginia governor declared the death penalty for a person that denied the Trinity under Virginia's Laws Divine, Moral and Martial, which also outlawed blasphemy, speaking badly of ministers and royalty, and "disgraceful word.
With the complaint of not having a bill of rights Thomas Jefferson coaxed James Madison who did not think it necessary to write them. Thomas Jefferson as well as several of the other founders believed strongly in the separation of religion and government. Thomas Jefferson who was from Virginia witnessed the Tierney of churches within his own state. This is why he is quoted as saying “And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. But may we hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away with this artificial scaffolding, and restore to us the primitive and genuine doctrines of this most venerated reformer of human errors.” —Thomas Jefferson, Letter to John Adams, April 11, 1823

It seems that only those who were born theist and then converted to atheism can appreciate that they were able to logically come to the conclusion that God does not exist. Please don't turn to religion because it seems like the place to go to. Take it from former Christians, you don't want to go there.

I think you are doing a good thing. YOu are looking for God and so you open your heart to God (Allah). And Allah will make it easy for you. If you are a good person and do good deeds and are thankful then you are already somewhat religious. Now do you believe that there is only one GOd to worship and only him you shall worship? Then you are Muslim! If you believe Jesus Christ was a prophet and a messenger of God then you are a Muslim!
