Is my betta fish sick? Need help please!?

So my betta fish, Trent, doesnt seem like hes doing so well. He doesnt seem to eat much and is always at the top of the water sleeping or just get some air at the corner of his tank. Hes a maroon colored fish but i noticed under his mouth, head, and gills that he seems to be discolored and little off whitish looking. Just now I noticed on the side of tank that theres these VERY tiny white worms crawling. You have to look super closely to see them move. I already looked up what they were but i wanted a second opinon cause I wasnt sure if they were planaria or something else. If your betta had this problem please let me know and how I can fix it. Thanks!

Update:

my mom changes his water often, I would say after a week or less sense tank does get pretty dirty quickly cause hes in a 2 gallon fish tank. I told them he needed a bigger tank but they wouldnt listen!

-.- What about the small white worms though? Also his scales aren't raised or anything.

Update 2:

Thank you..but unfortunately..he died =( Thanks for all your help guys.

You really do need a heater and filter. His water may be bad and you need to check the ph and nitrates and be sure the water is right.. Since he breaths air you might need a top. If the light doesn't get hot a piece of plexiglass will do in a money pinch. Glass shops sell it. I have it on my 20 gallon tank and a fluorescent light. I dont know about the whitish. But the worms would have already hurt him way before now . They are probably just infusoria. A great fish food.

Um first of all, yes, he's sick. I'm sorry I can't give you detailed advise because I personally don't like betas and don't keep them. Madi your, like, extremely vague are you sure you actually keep fish? I don't know what the white worms are, but they are most likely not a good sign. ASAP I would try to get at least a 3-5 gallon bucket (even a plastic tub-washed really well- will do in a pinch). A big tank will at least help him. fill it with water and and put conditioner in there- make sure to put in the right amount (most bottles will tell you how much per gallon). Then I'd Google beta deceases and and try to find out what the white worms are, and treat your beta accordingly. I'm assuming he's not eating, but continue to feed little bits and then remove if he doesn't eat within about 10 minutes. THe small tank size probably had nothing to do with the worms, or the ilness. You said your mom changes his water regularly, but bettas usually don't produce much waste, and 2 gallons is pretty big compared to what some people do to their bettas. You might be feeding him too much- what do you feed and how often? As for the discoloration, I'm not sure. I'd Google deceases to find out more.

    Hope I helped!

How many gallons of water are in your tank?

If there is less than 3, your betta fish is being kept in crowded conditions. This basically means that he could have developed a fungus that begins to grow under his scales when they are kept in small areas for too long.

The same thing happened to my friend's betta: It died 2 weeks after she noticed it. She never bothered to look it up.

    Good luck.

Your betta is definitely more than satisfied and extremely wholesome. The bubbles round his tank are talked about as a "bubble nest", and what bettas do to prepare that they are waiting to reproduce. nicely finished on giving your betta a contented domicile!

If the temp is below 74 degrees, bettas slowly stop eating
