How do you value an opinion?
Q2: Do opinions have value?
@Shih Tzu - I don't know who gave you thumbs down. I wish people would stop doing that w/questions of this nature. There is no such thing as a wrong answer.

It depends on how relevant it is, I guess. For example; I have a kid in one of my classes who is the king of non-sequiters. He blurts out whatever is on his mind, whether it relates to the subject matter or not. That's, in my opinion, a near-valueless opinion. But if someone is actually making a real attempt to say something applicable, then I think it has value; in whatever amount. And I appreciate random opinions of friends, but don't always consider them valuable....especially if it's just 'snarkiness' about others.

Personally, I value opinions that are backed up by a few criteria.
First would be facts. That is what I look for when I ask questions here on Yahoo. What are the facts? OR, is it just an opinion that is ideally put down in writing.
Second, I look for intent. Is the opinion out of concern; is it out of Godly principled love? If not then I do not pay much attention to it.
Third, is it logical? If it doesn't ring true to me, I question its value.
Fourth, Does it go along with my Bible trained conscience? That is the true value.
If it stands up to these 4 points (and I'm sure there are more but that is what is coming to mind), then it is a very valued opinion.

Opinions are an individual interpretation of a given set of facts such that the interpretation gives meaning and significance to a given set of facts or data. Significance gives value to opinions.
Here is an analogy:
Given four dots arranged in a square connect the dots.
There are 6 ways to do this. Each way results in a different image.
Your opinion referred to in the question above is analogous to the image that results from connecting the 4 dots above. The value is created by the meaning that is given to the facts.

Yes I do. They can be very useful in seeing through another perspective. Though some opinions mean nothing to me because I can see where they gain them from, usually out of ignorance on the matter of the opinion, id est: racism

You value an opinion based on your own opinion.
A2: opinions only hold value if the holder of said opinion is valuable to you.

opinions have value if the opinion comes from someone you trust, and partial value if they've been in the situation you're asking about.

I really love hearing other people's opinions on a wide variety of things. I love seeing things from a different point of view.

Depends on who''s opinion it is.
Some opinions are very valuable, some not so much.
