Help! while my boyfriend and I are apart?

Okay here's the info. My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and a half...we met in college which is still where we are and when we're at school we're together a lot...we always have good times and a lot of fun. All in all its a very loving relationship.

Everything is fine except for my anxiety when we're apart (i.e. on holiday breaks, because he lives about 2 hours away from my house). I have a lot of anxiety, and I'm recently on medicine so I'm hoping it kicks in for winter break which is at the end of this week, but I'm still nervous.

Basically, I'm upset when he leaves me to go home because I miss him and also we have a history with issues with his friends. When he and I were first dating his friends from home were very very rude to me AND to him (they take advantage of him a lot) and they still are and it hurts to know he is going to go home and hang out with them. Don't get me wrong I trust him and I'm not worried he's gonna cheat on me or anything, I just don't know how to control my psycho girlfriend-ness when we're apart. I get to be that very crazy controlling girlfriend and I don't want to do that this time because I want him to have fun and I don't want to fight....

Any suggestions on how I can do this more easily? It's so hard for me...

Thanks in advance! Please only nice answers...

Do you two text? Email? Call each other?

You could make sure to keep in contact, ask him about his day, just the general stuff.

The medicine should help some, but don't get high expectations or you'll just get frustrated.

Make sure he knows you are semi-psycho when it comes to being apart from him and that you are aware of the problem and you are trying to fix it. That way if you do come on too obsessive or something, he can understand that you are a work-in-progress.

When you notice yourself freaking, stop right there and observe why you are freaking. Acknowledge that you are probably making up your worries in your head, and if something is wrong, you are the first person he will tell.

Drink tea, do some deep breathing, whatever helps you calm down. Read a book, bake a cake, eat the cake.

Know that once you overcome this, you can overcome anything.

One thing I do when I am feeling stressed or worried or impatient is that I start stating obvious things.

For example, right now I am stressed because my boyfriend's mother was being unreasonable earlier:

"I am Bethany. I am 15 years old. I am a female. I am sitting in my bedroom right now. It is 5:26PM on 12/12/12. I have a boyfriend and his name is -insertnamehere-. I care about him very much. He cares about me as well. I am upset because I care about him. I don't want him to be upset because I am upset. I need to calm myself. It is not his fault I am upset. In the blink of an eye we will see each other again and all my worries will be gone. I just need to get to that moment."

And directly after I state all of these things, I go do something mindless that I enjoy. For example, I am going to go make snickerdoodles.

It's about confrontation, distraction, and him understanding that you are this way.

And do not blame yourself, you cannot help feeling this way, and you are not choosing to feel this way.

    Hope I helped?

I love psycho girls because they make me feel loved <3 lol

Na just chill a little but. Take a step back, text him a couple times a day, try to keep the convo going and entertain him. Don't put him down about his friends because it'll kill his mood and lower his self esteem.

Honestly though if it's as bad as it sounds and they were really rude to you, and you were my girl, I'd have dropped their asses. But I don't know how serious it was.

i had the same issue kind of and it started to push my boyfriend away from me and made us fight about it...but i realized realistically, i want to have fun with my friends too and not fight at all so we compromise and he texts me and calls me and i just learn to relax...try keeping yourself busy. try working out...go for runs. that clears your head and naturally releases endorphines which makes you more relaxed and happier!!!! try working on that NOW so you can get practice...it really makes relatiosnhips healthier and happier :) good luck!
