What is a good dog training book?

About a month ago our dog figured out how to get out of her 40 ft by 50 ft pen. No problem at first but of late she has been tearing things up, like insulation, extension cords, etc... She even chewed the plug off the fence charger for her electric fence. I need to get her to stop doing this and learn to stay on our property. We have no fence around our place and neighbors on both sides. She follows me down the drive and runs across the road but when I get home she is back at the house. Please if you can help let me know soon or she may have to go to the animal shelter.

You may want to get a fence if your property isnt too big- theres a huge debate about how these electric fences can mentally damage dogs. Also fences prevent wild animals, other dogs, kids coming onto your property and harming or taking the dog.

I enjoyed the book 'Training Your Super-dog'.

Perhaps you should bring your dog into the house as you begin training her, then this wouldn't be an issue, many dogs who don't get the interaction and attention they need will become destructive. Also it would make it easier for you to watch her and immediately correct unwanted behavior.
