Football positions for small people?

Hey guys, I will be playing football next year as and 11th grader (varsity) and i am undersized. I have played before as a wide receiver and i was OK but not really great, i would drop passes sometimes. being about 5'3 110 and i will probably grow until the season i was wondering what positions i should go for, i was thinking becoming a specialist as a kick returner or slot receiver like wes welker. What do you think?

Gym glass is the popular guy always getting the ball. So if your not popular I would just skip class and go get some breakfast or lunch, depending on the time frame you have gym. Now since it's gym glass it's either goin to be tag football or flag... I know the gym teacher will now let u play tackle. If your fast and small you probally wanna be a wide receiver so u can fly by the cornerback and get open way down the field so the quaterback(who is most likely a jock anyways) will find you wide open... If it is tackle or even flag small and fast are always running backs.

I highly encourage you to play for your high school varsity football team next season. Based on your height and weight, I believe that the best fit for you is at the wide receiver position. You have the ideal size for a high school junior wide receiver, playing on the varsity football team.

My best advice for you is to work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this upcoming (and every) offseason is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch wide receiver in high school varsity football, who could go on to play college football.

By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your junior, and especially senior, year of high school. If you perform very well in football during your final 2 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future.

  • damn and I thought I was undersized compared to most of the other players. You seem like a light fast person. If that is true. half back would definitely be good for you. just look at darren sproles, maurice jones-drew,ray rice, barry sanders, all those guys are under 5'9 and considered "undersized" players but that doesn't seem to stop them from suceeding. Just work on your quickness and speed so you can be agile. cause you're kinda lightweight. good luck

Specials, d-backs, maybe some slot if you improve on your catching. If you get some more muscle maybe some wing back. It really depends on how much you want to work in the offseason. Good luck

Kickers & Punters are usually pretty small compared to other football players

If you can't catch, you could try playing corner.
