How do get rid of water under the carpet in my car?

My car had a hole in the bumper which I believe was letting water in. Strangely enough only the floorboard behind the passenger was wet. I soaked up the 1/4in or so of standing water and have gotten the carpet somewhat dry. However, I can still hear water sloshing around under the carpet when I press down on it. I'm currently trying to dry it out with a space heat but it isn't working very well. Should I rent and industrial dehumidifier? Suggestions would be much appreciated.

You need to suck the water out, but do not use a regular vacuum, you will ruin it...and possibly cause a short, electrically. Use a special water removing vacuum, or maybe a floor cleaning machine, that sucks up water, like a carpet cleaner.

Some car washes might have vacuums that can do that, I don't know. I would borrow a carpet cleaning machine, or rent one, and then suck up the water.

I don't see how water got into the car because of a hole in the bumper. Perhaps, you should look to see if there might be a hole under the car, that lets in water. The body of the car should be separate from the bumper, and no water should be getting in. Maybe your door seals is leaking, or the windsheild seal is leaking. The windshield would allow water into the compartment, if it was leaking.
