Is it cheaper to buy the Paris Pass for travel or just buy as you go?

Im going to paris for new year and we will be staying holiday inn, at Ch. De Gaulle Airport. Im only going for 2nights so I was wondering if it would to be cheaper to just pay for travel on the day rather than buying the paris viste pass at 105 euros per adult?

Update:

were staying that far because we are travelling from england with our car and at new year the hotel and travel prices are high so staying outside a bit meant that it was cheaper and we got a hotel with safe hotel parking.

The Paris Pass is a trap for tourists and in your case, staying near CDG airport which is in zone 5, it'd be useless.

I agree with previous answerers, it's not a good plan to stay near the airport, the money you'd save in hotels, you'd spend it in transports and the airport is in the middle of nowhere, to get there, the train stop at poor towns, on the 31st and 1st, I think it's even worst, lots of people from the suburbs go to the Champs Elysées avenue on 31st at night, trains will be crowded, as are the Champs Elysées.

If you stay where you mention, near the airport, then, the cheapest would be to buy a Paris Visite Card, valid zones 1 to 5, it costs :

    2 days : 31,15€

    3 days : 43,65€

Otherwise, you'll need a special ticket because going to the airport costs more expensive : 9,25€ one way, per person, plus, to travel inside Paris, you'll need either a day travelcard, called Mobilis, costs 6,40€ or a carnet of 10 tickets that costs 12,50€

The public transport is usually free of charge in Paris and suburbs between the 31st December at 5 PM and the 1st January at 12.

There are nice, inexpensive hotels in Paris and there are also many hostels. It's not my business but I think it's better staying in central Paris, most of all on 31st December.

There are loads of safe parkings in central Paris, they cost around 30€ per day, they're covered, have security staff and cameras. Some hotels have an arrangement with a parking nearby and so you pay about half the price.

The location is quite important, avoid staying nearby tube stations : Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, Pigalle, Porte de Clignancourt, Porte de St Ouen, Barbes.

I understand the issue with hotel prices at new year - but staying at the Holiday Inn in CDG is really a very poor choice. You will waste massive time going into Paris if you use public transport. You will need to get the hotel shuttle to the RER station at the airport. The ride into central Paris is a good 45 minutes to 1 hour and will cost you a little less than 10 EUR for a one-way to Paris. So a round trip for the two of you will be 40 EUR every day. That assumes you go once a day only - anyway, going twice would be even more of a time waster.

Taking your car will be cheaper, but you will have to include a whole day parking.

As far as going around inside Paris, just buy the Mobilis ticket at 6.40 EUR. It gives you unlimited travel by all transportation means (metro, bus, tram, RER) inside central Paris (zones 1 and 2). Individual tickets in Paris (zone 1) are 1.20 EUR a ride - provided you by them in carnets of 10 tickets.

You will probably not get your money's worth out of a Paris pass travel.

The price is only "good" if you can use up almost every one of the coupons. If you miss a few, then you spent more on the pass than on the individual tickets.

Also, not having a pass gives you much more flexibility on where and when to go to see anything.

Simple question: Why stay all that far away from the city, at the airport? There are gazillions of hotels in the city, minutes away from the railroad to the airport.

Source(s): Occasional visitor to Paris. NEVER stay far away from the city.

I will be staying at the Marriott Rive Guache....wondering what is the best transportation to all for two women in their 70's? Is this a good location? Read somewhere about a club in this area and can't seem to find it again and wanted to know if anyone has suggestions of what to do at night in this area. Also is it worth getting Paris Pass? Are cabs readily available? Best way to avoid lines?

Odd. I have been to Paris a few times and purchased a museum and public transit card at the tourism office at the trains station (you can get 2, 3 or 4 days) and 2 days never cost me 105 euros.

you could split up the days; they do no longer could be consecutive. And in case you're taking an in one day practice that leaves after 7 pm, you place day after on the instant's date, so which you get 29 hours for sometime. you would be able to desire to get the France/Italy bypass, and heavily 2d classification is totally gentle. 4 days in 2 months fee $331/213euros. yet you comprehend, a roundtrip from Paris to Pisa could purely fee approximately 162 euros. in case you think of you will perform a little extra traveling the bypass may be worth it. in case you have a bypass, and take a night practice, you will nonetheless could pay extra beneficial for a couchette in case you like one (a stable theory.)
