Find stressed syllables in English?

Hi, for my English test tomorrow I'm required to find the stressed syllables in some words, as I have problems finding them, do you know any tricks to find them? I don't have any problems with pronouncing them right but it's just 'necessary' as the school says.

Andreas, just say each word out loud and work out which syllable you naturally emphasize when you speak the word. For example, in the word 'necessary' you would stress the first syllable ('ne').

    Hope that helps.

You should gain knowledge of the Londoners' accent. Sure there are various extraordinary accents. For illustration in north England the accent is "heavier". In Scotland it is extremely complicated to have an understanding of.... I might suggest you to look at British movies so which you could study the accent with an exciting and not more boring way. The spoken language will support you comprehend. Which you could decide upon epic movies or these founded on basic literature. So far as your observation is involved, it's correct. sorry can't think of any "tricks"

but be careful of the word "canary" (canARy)the yellow bird which rhymes with "Mary".

non-native speakers often get that one wrong.

    good luck with the test.
