If Aliens had the power to give us all $1 million would it bring down the economies of the world.?

Ok here it is.

Aliens from a far advanced society have come to earth to change things.

First of all everyone with access to a bank account checks their accounts and discovers they have $1 million.

How would this effect the financial markets?

Would it devalue all currencies?

Would it create chaos and confusion?

Would you be happy to discover this?

Nothing would change except the numbers. Dollars are not worth anything except to pay taxes. Their value for any other purpose only depends on how many of them are going around. If you don't go to work you find that everybody else doesn't have to work either, so you all have to work to provide each other's needs. Anything you try to buy costs a million dollars because everybody knows you have that much to spend. Eventually all those dollars are in the same pockets that previously held most of the money, people who were always short on cash are still short on cash, rent has gone up to a million dollars a month, and people who work demand an income of four million dollars a month because that's what it costs to live now.

I think it's already happening. My Lloyds Bank shares are worth 20p more than they were yesterday.

    Let the good times roll.

    That would cause hyperinflation.
