Why is Satan the 'evil one'?

Hello there! Asking this for some input. You can answer without reading the rest of this question if you want, but I do not recommend it.

Here we go:

In Genesis, Satan gives Adam and Eve the gift of knowledge of right and wrong by the way of the fruit from the tree. God sees this as "bad" or a "sin," and punishes Adam and Eve by taking away their immortality and kicking them out of the Garden they lived in. God could have forgiven them (I've heard from many christians that god is loving and forgiving,) and seen that they wouldn't have known not to eat from the tree in the first place, but he decides to basically kill them instead.

Also god hates knowledge apparently and sees it as a sin... interesting.

See the book of Job where Satan bets god that Job will curse him if his life is made miserable enough. God kills Job's children (NOT Satan,) and Job ends up not cursing god (even though god would have deserved it,) so Satan loses the bet.

As well, the book itself can't decide if Satan is tied up or free to roam the Earth:

[2 Peter 2:4]

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment.

in opposite, this verse here

Job 1:7

"Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it."

All Satan seems to do in the bible is test god and his followers. There is no record of him killing anybody, torturing them, or sending a plague onto them.

Now, let's take a look at God's crimes:

God destroys all life on Earth in a great flood, except for a drunk (Noah) and his family, for failing to worship him.

God's tenth plague upon the Israelites was the unjustified murder of all firstborn sons in Egypt, which undoubtedly included little children.

Before sending the plagues to Egypt, God "hardened Pharaoh's heart" so that he wouldn't let the Israelites go, so he could have an excuse to visit horrible plagues upon them, like boils, killing cattle and murdering all firstborn sons. (Exodus 4:21)

God orders the Levites to kill their "every man and his neighbor" for worshiping another god. This cost 3000 lives. (Exodus 32:27)

God sends a plague to the Israelites, apparently feeling that mass-butchery wasn't enough of a punishment. (Exodus 32:35)

God kills Onan for refusing to impregnate his late brother's (whom God also slew) wife and instead "spilling his seed on the ground." (Genesis 38:8-10)

God kills the entire populations of Soddom and Gammorah (again, including women, children and infants) for practicing certain sexual techniques.

God kills over 50,000 people for looking at an ark. (1 Samuel 6:19)

God kills 70,000 people because King David decided to have a census. (1 Chronicles 21:7-14)

God approves of slavery, and instructs owners to beat their slaves. (Proverbs 29:19)

And, finally, God makes sure that if you are guilty of even the smallest transgression, you shall suffer endlessly for all eternity, following a dramatic homecoming for Jesus, who will be extremely ticked off at everyone for putting him to death, even though it was just the Romans and even though he knew what was going to happen beforehand, and he could have easily avoided it by using his power as God to perform a miracle and prove who he was.

But okay... "this isn't the same god as the new testament! Old testament is wrong, and should be excluded!"

Okay then; there goes your entire story of Genesis... making god sending his son to die for our "sins" in the New Testament rather pointless. It also removes god taking away our immortality in Genesis, yet people still die in the rest of the book.

SO... How, why, is Satan the "evil one"? Tell me, and back it up with evidence, please.

Update:

Actually, it IS a question; I don't see why providing evidence to back up my side of the argument makes it "not a question."

--

So god not only created us literally BLIND, but he tried to pass off his "wisdom" as being adults with the minds of young children who don't know how to take care of themselves or think for themselves?

--

Why is rebelling against God a bad thing?

Update 2:

Study the bible? I was a christian for 16 years of my life. I had plenty of time to study it.

"God warned Adam not to eat the fruit of that one tree or he would die."

They wouldn't have died if God hadn't have decided to kill them, so Satan was telling the truth. They didn't die because they ate the fruit; they died because God took away their immortality.

"Isn't the gift of knowledge of good enough?" Yes. Why didn't God give them it?

"they didn't become like God," actually, it says "as gods," not "as God."

"Indeed, they became like Satan." You say that as if it's a bad thing. <3

Regardless, the whole Genesis creation and Adam and Eve story is a stolen metaphor for achieving godlike state by the raising of the kundalini serpent through the 7 chakras via spiritual advancement.

"So God promised then and all of us to one day send a redeemer (Jesus) to fix the mess..." and yet he didn&#

    Quick answer: He isn't.

Long answer: There aren't any cases of him killing or commanding people to kill in his name. Compared to god where the are are MILLIONS if not BILLIONS of deaths in his name, ancient and modern. There are many modern cases in which they blame "the devil," but if god is really all-powerful, why doesn't he stop them? Answer being that god is either not powerful enough or doesn't care.

Also what kind of "loving" god would sent his own children to a place supposedly of torture for the rest of their lives? Christianity as a whole does not make sense.

From which of the 3,320 webpages Google lists did you copy and paste this info? Did you even bother to study the issue at the source: the Bible? If you had you wouldn't be asking this question.

    Here's what you missed ...

God warned Adam not to eat the fruit of that one tree or he would die. (Genesis 2:17) Adam must have told Eve because she acknowledged as much to Satan (Genesis 3:3). So they were both forewarned.

Isn't the gift of knowledge of good enough? Why would anyone want to know evil? And while Adam and Eve knew both, they didn't becoem like God as Satan had suggested (Genesis 3:5) .Indeed, they became like Satan.

God had to take away Adam and Eve's immortality simply because they now knew evil. And would propagate it forever otherwise.

God wanted to forgive them. But instead of 'fessing up, Adam blamed God for giving him 'that woman' (Genesis 3:12) and Eve said 'the devil made me do it' (Genesis 3:13). So God promised then and all of us to one day send a redeemer (Jesus) to fix the mess (Genesis 3:15).

The story of Job is not about a bet. It's about a man who has unconfessed sin. In such a stare God was unable to protect Job and he was fair game for Satan. That would mean Satan inflicted all that misery on Job, not God. When Job finally saw the light and confessed, God restored Job and blessed him abundantly.

I could go on and on, point for point, with what you copied and pasted, but for what? Why take my word for it? You should verify it all yourself. It's your eternal destiny that hangs in the balance. I assure you the authors of these websites and those others who copy and paste will not be standing with you in your defense on Judgement Day. You will stand alone and you will give your own account. You'd better know what you're doing.

WHOOPS! Ya performed misplaced your Magic. Satan has, killed hundreds of thousands, tortures others, suppressed rights of participants, began wars. And does a complete lot extra. GOD then again Is all Love. He has rid the Earth of hideous men and women, so vile that I are not able to inform you approximately them. But it's good defined within the Old Testament. Satan = DEATH GOD = LIFE CB
