I'm really confused about my sexuality! Help?

Okay so here's the deal.

I've always been attracted to boys, ever since I was young.

In grade 11 a bunch of girls at my school told me that there was a rumour that I was a lesbian and that just sparked this obsessive train of thought in my head. Slowly, I began to question and obsess over my sexuality. Every time I told myself that I wasn't interested in women, something would come up. For example: I don't like to kiss girls, but then I would try to imagine it. It used to be something that didn't interest me, but the more I questioned it the more I accepted it.

Now it's gotten out of hand. I'm always so stressed out about it. I have a boyfriend who I love very much, but now the thoughts are back. It's gotten to a point where asked myself if I was still attracted to boys and now I question myself even when I'm with him. Even though, two months ago I was head over heals! (We've been dating for 1 year and a half now)

I can't focus on anything. I'm always depressed and I don't know who to talk to, because I feel like I'm caught in between to worlds. I WANT to spend the rest of my life with a man, but I'm afraid that I'll never shake these questions. I'm afraid to experiment, because I don't want to leave my boyfriend. I don't want to tell anyone because I'm so unsure of myself. I feel like i"ve convinced myself that I'm bisexual or a lesbian by asking myself all of these questions all the time. I know that I should just enjoy life, and follow my heart, but this causes me too much anxiety and I want to know if anyone has had a similar experience and how they have learned to deal with it.

Basically, its been four years since I first began questioning and I just want answers, or people to relate to I guess.

Additional Details

Im often able to get over my anxiety on my own, but a lot of my friends(slash people I know) are now coming out and this always brings back all the anxious feelings.Things that remind me of it just make me really stressed. Could I maybe have an anxiety disorder? I often feel like there's a voice inside my head, telling me really negative things, like everyone hates you and that I'll never get through my anxiety. It's like there's a constant internal struggle, between two people me post rumours (which is not someone I like) and me pre rumours. I used to know who I was, you know? And now everything seems mixed up. Maybe I should go see a therapist, because I also have these kinds of worries about my school and future jobs.

Thanks for all the answers so far!

oh and one more thing, I rarely want to get out of bed and go to school, because I find that there are no good looking boys at school so I find myself looking at girls instead… And that causes anxiety. I avoid making friends because I'm worried I'll develop feelings for them. How insane is that? And I totally know there's nothing wrong with being bi or gay, but I just don't want that for myself. A lot of my friends are and I love em, but I don't see myself being gay or bi.

AND one last thing, I don't find all the guys as attractive sexually anymore as I used to. My libido when it comes to guys is pretty much gone. I mean I still love sex with my boyfriend, but I don't get as excited about hot movie stars anymore.

You are just obsessing too much. Sexuality isn't gay or straight- there isn't an on and off button.

The doctor Kinsey believed human sexuality was on a 0-6 scale- from men who only liked women, to men who liked women but thought men were cute and sometimes fantasized, to people who liked men and women equally, all the men who only like men and find women gross.

You are likely a 2 or so on the scale- you like men, but you are attracted to women as well.

All of this sadness, the worry, the fear of having friends, comes from your guilt and uncertainty. I think college will be a good place for you, or a gay bar. Try an LGBT parade or club in your area.

Kiss a girl one day if you and your boyfriend break up, and see if you like it.

You might date a few girls, then date a few boys, and decide you prefer boys.

Or, you'll kinda prefer boys, but fall in love with a girl instead.

Source(s): I'm straight, my two best friends, my boss, and my co-worker sitting next to me are all gay. I've heard everything you just said, all my life.
  • You are seriously over thinking this. You said you don't even like kissing girls and you have a relationship with a guy that you love. So what if some people called you a lesbian. Its highschool. Its what they do. Just breathe. I think you just might be bi curious, and that is okay. But you do have a boyfriend that you love, so it doesn't even matter if you are bi or straight because you have him. And not being excited about movie stars anymore is a normal thing of growing up. It just means you are maturing and see things more objectivly.
