Favorite brand of tall boot?

Hey! I am currently looking for a new pair of tall boots. I have the Ariat Challenge Zip II, but am looking for a high, and better quality boot. I half a regular calf, but in a tall length. I was looking at the TredStep DaVinci Field Boot. What do you guys think? http://www.saddlesource.com/dvrr.html

just a heads up, Treadstep's tall is nowhere near as tall as Ariat. I need all the height i can get, and unfortunately Ariat's calf sizes just don't fit right (either too small and cutting off circulation or too big and loose), so i had to "settle" for Middleburgs as they were the only boot tall enough that would accommodate my calf that wasn't custom made, after getting them i don't think i will try to get anything else until i can get custom made boots since they are so darn comfy and i will always have a pair for schooling (since getting them i have had no desire to use my paddock boots). I really did like the construction and feel of the treadstep boots even though they weren't tall enough, so if they fit your height, i would say go for it!

My favorite (and only) pair of tall boots is Effingham. That's probably not of great help to you because I'm not sure they're made anymore. (I like them because they were the only ones I could find with a truly extra-wide calf available in a tall length.)

Although I don't own any TredStep boots, I REALLY like the brand. THey're excellent quality. But they're not necessarily higher quality than Ariat boots because I think Ariats are also excellent.

Just looking at the picture they look nice, but are very expensive. Personally, I would not spend that much on a boot. The field boots I have are wonderful. They are well-made, comfortable, and the leather is soft, supple and has held up very well over the years. They still look new and I've worn them for about 8 years. To be honest, I have no idea what brand they are. I purchased them on consignment and they have no brand name on them. I spent very little money on them, but I have no desire to look for another pair of boots. Just because thede boots have a high price tag does not mean they will be high quality or the best boot for you. If you're looking for a new pair of boots, find a tack shop that sells field boots and try a few pairs on. Find one that is well-made, fits, and is comfortable. Forget the brand. Buy the boot, not the name on it!

Yeah, they look really nice! If you like them, go for it. After all, they're for you, not everyone else.
