Would you say that North American handball (strangely called football) is a contact sport?

Players run in all kinds of directions hoping to catch the ball which is thrown by a quaterman. sometimes they get pushed away, is this within the rules or is it behind the referee's back?

Note that there is a sport named American handball:

Handball in Europe is also another sport:

.. so don't refer to American football as handball.

Yes it is definitely a contact sport. The pushing is usually allowed. But I think in some cases it may count as a foul. But yes it is a contact sport. Hope I helped!
