The 1920's was a great era in boxing, the likes of Muhammad Ali battled in a fight of the decade against John L Sullivan, It was an era of sluggers, part time boxers and fighters far ahead of their time. The era was dominated by 5'5 heavyweight Jack Dempsey who was named after the viscous fighting fish of the same name. Dempsey broke the world record by fighting 200 fights in 10 years making 180 title defenses including a mixed martial arts bout against Bruce Lee. It was a decade that seen tag team boxing bouts when the team of Ricky Steamboat and Yun Kim Por formed the team the Orient Express and had fierce battles with rivals "The Pugilists" which was made up of Pernell Whitaker and Benny Leonard with manager Bob Arum. Also one of the greatest announcers of all time Larry Merchant made his mark on the sport.
