There is the Boxer Rebellion in China, which went around killing any foreigners they see or Christian Chinese.

Well... at the 20th century, China undergo a lot of revolutions, especially when they were so weak due to failed Empresses who spent all money on leisure instead of military and technology, such as attempting to build a "grand garden", a grander great wall should be preferable.

Perhaps when USSR attempted to invade Mongols and also attempted to remove their historical records, as the history of the Mongols did devastated Russians quite a lot.
