If you file chapter 7 all you have to do is sign whats called a reaffirmation agreement with your lender and keep making your payments as agreed and you can keep your car.
Be sure if you do this to call your lender and tell them you want them to continue reporting to the credit bureaus. This will go a long way towards reestablishing your credit after the BK is dismissed.
Good luck.

J, filing bankruptcy over credit cards is the act of the uninformed.
u would do better letting them go in to default.
Then u can pay them off for pennys on dollar.
Bankruptcy is forever and will b on record til then.
u can go decades b4 collections go to courts for garnishments
so u are far from bankrupt.
u can get 2nd jobs and pay them off.

Bankruptcy is FAR from the first option that should be considered when you have accounts going to collections. Do you even have enough debt to be eligible for BK? By how your questions is phrased, I'm guessing you would not even qualify for BK.

you should really talk to a lawyer for a definite answer but usually you can keep only what you really need to survive (everything else goes to the bankruptcy estate until all your debt has been paid off - the actual amounts are usually lowered though thru bankruptcy proceedings)
... but really, talk to a lawyer :)
