I was called a sexist pig today...why am I not offended?

Do you think its because I am a woman that I am not offended by being called that?

Have other women been called this? Did you think it was funny?

Men, have you been called this? Did you think it was funny or offensive?

Update:

@ John - I didn't say I didn't care, I said i wasn't offended. I actually think its pretty funny and now I am trying to see if I really am a sexist pig. I know that I am a bit of a misandryst...maybe they go hand and hand. I never treat men and women differently however, so I don't know if I fall under the sexist pig. Not sure if its more of a mentality to be a sexist pig, or if you have to actually do something physical to be one.

Men think that opinionated women all have some sexist axe to grind. I've never been called a sexist pig, but been called sexist before. I am truly not, or I would expect my husband to be a sole breadwinner while I stay home and just be a housewife. Being sexist means that you view each sex as having very defined and specific roles...like men work, women do housework and raise kids. I would say that women who bash men are somewhat sexist..but for other reasons, like harboring feelings of oppression, inequality, or in retaliation for their sexist attitudes against women.

When I considered going into the Air Force, all I wanted to do was fly fighter jets...know what I was told? 'We don't put women in combat fighter positions'. That wasn't long before the gulf war...know what? I was married with a baby on my hip when the first female fighter pilot was all over the news. So I revisited that sexist pig recruiter and gave him a piece of my mind. He pulled out my files, and knew my scores, I was qualified in every way but one...I was 3 inches too short for that, but could fly helicopters and other craft...so, WTF? If I had known my real options, I might have signed up and had a fulfilling career. Because I talked to a Southern man, and I'm fairly petite, I am not equal do to society's BS 'rules' or perceptions?

I wouldn't trade being a mom for anything. I am happy that I have my son, and suppose it happened for a reason... In the working world, though, I see men and women equally. It is the attitude of the individual that sways my judgement to sexism, not the mere fact they have a penis.

And yes, I did think it was funny to be called sexist..because it was over an argument about fixing a dryer belt...if I have work, do all the cooking, laundry, housekeeping, raising a son, AND taking care of husband's hunting hounds...then what did I have him for if he (as my husband) couldn't or wouldn't fix the damn dryer belt?! So if he expected me to do it, he would have to babysit the whole day while I drove 35 miles each way to town for a new one, and fixed it myself. Of course, he was petrified with the thought of being left with a 1 yr old several hours...LMAO! ;o)

I would be offended and i would retaliate of course (don't care if its a girl or guy), but ive never been called like that. Im a man; obviously it means i find it offensive.

Being a woman doesn't makes you are a sexist pig, feminists are. Not funny, it pisses me off.

From what you say to john i doubt you are a sexist, im mysoginic (or whatever its called) and i try to be tolerant with women (but sometimes i cant stand them, but i try to be tolerant), and i have friends (girls i mean), and my cousin (a woman) and me get along the best than with the rest of my family.

You dont need to do something physical, just the way you think makes you a sexist pig (not you), i mean when a man say to a woman (with bad intentions) to go to the kitchen or whatever its sexist, and it wasnt physical was it?

Dont worry from what ive read you seem to be a cool person.

  • You should be offended...I would be..."pig" is a very rude word and the person who called you that is definitely someone rude and cheap. Sexist, on the contrary is not an offense; everyone has the right to express their opinion of course, yet if everyone on this board could just mind their ways when writing, this would be a much better place indeed. Shame on the person who has been so rude to you, especially because you are a lady and a lady should never be offended with rude words.

Men get called it all the time - Ive called female, sexist users on here that a couple of times in the past. I have since decided not to say it anymore - it is an offensive thing to say.

The fact women call me that name often on here - and for little or no reason doesnt justify my using it back. I might think it, but I will now explain why I think what they say is sexist, instead of just hurling abuse. why lower myself to some idiots level ?

I take no notice. The whole meaning of sexist or misogynist is not taken seriously coming from a woman's mouth, because quite honestly, it is used so loosely today that simply disagreeing with women makes you such things, and so when a woman calls me such things (mainly online they do, only been called it once in reality), I simply smile, as she honestly believes I will hold that statement coming out of her mouth with merit.

I call sexist females sexist cows.

I thought it was funny because I'm a nice guy. People can say anything. You care that you were called that because you're still talking about it
