Can we show some respect regarding the school shooting?
I've seen several questions this morning using this tragedy to promote their own views. One question insisted this would never happen in an Islamic country. Another used it as evidence there's no god.
I don't care what country you live in. This could have happened in your town, your kids's or grandkids' school.
Isn't this tragedy is too profound to be used as fodder for our discussions here? Or is it just me?
This is different in my mind because it's still unfolding. Cops are still crawling over the school. The blood hasn't even been cleaned up.
@ AGREE. Discussion is good. But isn't this is too fresh for people to latch onto for any kind of "See? This shows my beliefs are right and you're wrong" argument?
BTW, I'm an atheist and one of my grand kids is in 1st grade. Maybe none of the questions here are all that disrespectful. Maybe this just hit too close to home for me.

The holocaust seems to be fair game, so why should this be special? While I agree that some of the questions have been in poor taste, I see no reason why it should be exempt from discussion.
Edit: I can see your point of view on this topic, but I'm afraid that we fundamentally disagree. I agree that some sensitivity may be in order, but you seem to be proposing that we stop discussing this topic in religious terms. That we wait until this is no longer fresh in our memories to try and think about it. I believe that this is the best time to discuss it. Before long there will be so many competing theories about why the shooting occurred that it will become difficult to address the issue clearly.

Situations like this do prompt one to ask questions. Being that this is R&S, there really isn't any other way to address this issue without getting booted to another section.
Why is it disrespectful to discuss such atrocities? I haven't seen anyone supporting the shooter, just asking questions about why a god would allow this. I see nothing wrong with that.

You will soon see oodddles of liberals blaming guns, conservatives, republicans and Christians, even if the media calls the shooter a liberal democrat.
All racist and bigoted atrocities begin with an incident like this, followed by mass hysteria and blame, and the left ends it with a final atrocity.

Was god not willing to stop the kids from dying and not capable? or was he capable but not willing?
