  • Bendix air compressor with two unloader valves?

I recently repaired an air compressor at work that had two unloader valves. I don't remember the model number but I have never seen one with two valves before, It's usually just one valve. Does anyone know what the purpose is for having two?

  • Christians: Can you explain how evolution works?

I have noticed that a large number of Christian apologists seem to have a lot of misconceptions about evolution. As such, I would like to get a better understanding of what those misconceptions are so that I can research and better address them in the future. So please tell me how you think evolution works or what you think evolution is.

I have no plans to ridicule anyone based on their answers or to point out problems with answers. If you would like me to tell you if I agree with your concept of evolution let me know and I will comment, not that I expect many people to want that.

Notice: I apologize, but any comments that do not give a definition or explanation of evolution will get a thumbs down from me. It's not that I don't agree with you, it is simply the only way to filter the comments that I care about from the ones that I don't.

  • My last question was misunderstood. Atheist, Agnostic, or Theist?

The words atheist and theist are about whether or not you BELIEVE in a god or gods.

The words agnostic and gnostic are about whether you claim to KNOW if there is a god or gods.

This being the case, why is it that people still say that you are either atheist, agnostic, or theist?

You can be any of the following:

agnostic atheist = I don't believe in a god but I don't think I can know for sure.

gnostic atheist = I don't believe in a god and I think that I can know for sure.

agnostic theist = I believe in a god but I don't think I can know for sure.

gnostic theist = I believe in a god and I think that I can know for sure.

You can be both atheist and agnostic. That is my point. The choices are not just atheist, agnostic, or theist.

  • The origin of God's morals?

There are two options when it comes to Gods morals. Either God does things because they are good or things are good because God does them.

If God does things because they are good then God is following a moral code and thus is not the origin of morals.

If things are good because God does them. Then we do not get our morals from God. This requires a bit more explanation. There is a bible story (2 kings 2:23-24) in which God sends two she-bears to tear 42 children to pieces for making fun of a prophets baldness and then the children are never mentioned again. Does that mean it is okay to kill children for making fun of holy men? Of course not, no one in their right mind would make that argument. But that leaves us with a dilemma. If God only does good things then WHY is it not good to kill children for making fun of holy men? The only reasonable solution is that God has a different moral system then we do. This means that our morals can't come from God.

In light of these things, I can't see how it can be said that we get our morals from God. Any thoughts?

  • Morals: God v. Satan (round 2)?

This is meant to clarify and restate my original question.

In Genesis God tells Adam and Eve that if they eat of the forbidden tree then they shall surely die. Later Satan tells Eve that she will not die but become like God and know the difference between good and evil. It turns out that Satan was telling the truth and God lied, they gained knowledge of good and evil and did not die. A lot of people argue that they did die eventually, but mortality was not listed as one of the punishments for eating of the tree. I think this means that Adam and Eve were already mortal and that God meant that they would die shortly after eating the fruit.

Do you think that this means that Satan is morally superior to God. If not then why?

  • What prevents 2 species from interbreeding?

I am trying to build a program that mimics evolution as closely as possible, but the problem is I don't know how I should go about specifying when two species can not interbreed. Now, I realize that that you can have breeding between two species, but in the cases where interbreeding is not possible I would like to know why exactly that is the case, or if you have a good reference I could follow then that would help too. Thanks
