Happy Birthday Jesus sign?

To celebrate Christmas, I put a sign on my gate that says "Happy Birthday, Jesus" instead of happy holidays or merry Christmas or ho ho ho. Christmas is a Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus. So, I am a little confused by the response various people have had - namely disgust, annoyance, irritation. It has nothing to do with other religions that don't believe in Jesus, all the scoffers are of the rural backwoods type. Yet they act like I have posted a sign that is majorly offensive. Have people really become that anti-Jesus? I was raised Christian and really only socialize with Christians...I had no idea that people found Jesus so offensive!

Update:

Helkem - Very true! How sad. Guess I'll keep on being an offensive rebel against society then because I will never stand down in my love for Jesus Christ.

Update 2:

Charles - Lovely advice! Thank you.

Oh don't let it get to you. In society, it's encouraged to freely express yourself unless you're Christian

EDIT: I love that you will never stand down in your love for Jesus. That's the attitude to have. However, be careful. When you're expressing yourself to others, ask yourself "how is this benefiting the kingdom"....I encourage Christians to express their faith up to the point where it pushes nonbelievers further away.....in your situation, I don't see a "Happy Birthday Jesus" sign being a problem. People could interpret that as pushing Jesus in their face, which is why they're mad, but that's being a little oversensitive. Keep your passion for Jesus up!

    Try to understand them

forgive them for their reactions and ignorance

    pray for their understanding

If possible; explain it to them

let love and hope reign in your soul

explain about the over commercialization of Christmas

Celebrat it about your own way and ignore their greviences or faults.

The day in question (December twenty fifth) grew to change into into for a jiffy also a minor Roman pagan competition (inaugurated in about 270 ad) yet there's no longer any information this grew to change into into something to do with Christmas.

  • You're just being a typical phony Christian trying to make yourself appear holier than other Christians.
